My dad suffered a minor heart attack and since Whittier was the closest hospital to my parent’s place. Dad was kept under observation for 3 days and 2 nights and when they were confident enough that he was doing fine, only then they let him go home.

The room which was given to dad was spacious with good ventilation and sunlight coming in. They had all the basic necessities like toothpaste, toothbrush, lotions and wipes but the room lacked a bathroom, which I felt was important.

While he was there, the nurses took up the whole task of taking care of him and we didn’t have anything much to do. The staff were good hearted, friendly and totally helpful. All of them took excellent care of dad till he was discharged and hardly sort our help for anything.

The hospital is good; its clean and well-maintained. The rooms are amazing and they are so sparkling clean that one can even sleep on the floors. The nurses and doctors are humble and they are very polite to their patients. I have observed that the entire staff of this hospital takes a lot of strain so that their patients would feel comfortable.

Since my brother was admitted here for more than a month and I was the one tending to him and paying him visits all the time, I know in and out about this place. They serve bland yet nutritious food to their patients but if you want to grab a bite, there is a small cafeteria in the first floor of this hospital where you get decently fancy stuff which tastes great to satisfy your palette.

Overall, I found the hospital to be a little dated but the staff who work here compensate for all of its shortcomings. Such wonderful nurses and doctors.

God bless them all.

I was visiting my aunt and her cat decided to act crazy that day when I petted her. She bit my hand real bad and was not ready to leave it at any cost. I was at a loss to understand what had happened and I cried out for help. Only when my aunt came running and pacified her, she left my hand.

But it was too late by then because I was already bleeding profusely and I knew that now only a nurse or a doctor could help me. My aunt did the basic first aid and she drove me down to the ER of this hospital. I badly needed immediate treatment because the bleeding just wouldn’t stop.

I thought I would be taken in immediately because anybody sane could notice that I was bleeding bad and needed immediate help. But all the nurse did was come over and give me a huge ball of cotton. As if that would help!!

I waited hopelessly for more than 2 hours and finally they take me in and tell me that they cannot put stitches as it might get infected because of bacteria in the wound. Seriosulyyy!!!!! I did not stick around for 2 plus hours to hear this.

I was pissed off and I just asked my aunt to take me elsewhere. Given my experience, I don’t think it would be a good idea to come back here or recommend this place.

Good and efficient staff who know how to go about with things and communicate important aspects with each other and also with the patients.
Never in my life have I seen doctors and nurses who are so attentive to their patients and take out time to listen to their woes. Everybody here made me feel so much better and that was the best medicine I ever received; love, care and attention. Couldn’t have asked for more.

My son was brought to the ER here and the poor thing had a pathetic experience. The room he was given looked all old and as if it hadn’t been cleaned in many years. The place was dirty, filled dirt and grime and when we complained about it, the nurses who were initially sweet transformed into bitches.

To add to all this, they did not take down the triage properly and wrote all kind of stupidity in the diagnosis. I don’t know if they did it intentionally to trouble us but it was not acceptable.

It is a dirty noisy hospital and I don’t think someone who can afford better should ever go in.

The place is horrible and I found most of their staff to be stupid. You ask them something and they look at you as if they are giving an exam and the question you have asked is out of syllabus. I don’t think the place has good, well-trained staff.

All of them looked like depressed souls who had no interest in their work. They are masters in misguiding people and after all that they have done, I don’t think I would want to go there or take anyone there, not even my enemy.

I don’t find anything remarkable about the place but the ER is quick, fast and efficient if you go as per my experience. They can definitely take care of all the small and minor issues but when it comes to major stuff, I don’t know if they are proficient enough to handle.

I have had good experience in the ER of Whittier and so have many of my friends as well as family members who live close by. But at the same time when it comes to major things like a surgery or any other procedure or even lab tests, I have not heard people talk good about their experience.
Always, I have heard of something going wrong or things not being done with utter perfection etc. etc.

So, I mostly choose to go to Scripps Mercy wherein I have always experienced the best.

Nothing good can happen to you if you choose this hospital. I wonder how this place is still open. There are so many other very good facilities in the area and I don’t think one needs to even take a second glance at this place.

Ruddy and filthy place with horrible staff – one liner for Whittier. Please save your time and drive elsewhere!
