As a single, independent 75-year-old, my father believed that he was fit as a fiddle and no harm would come to him, and he would be blessed with good health till he departs from the world. But that presumption came crashing down when he started spitting blood after a bout of cough. I was shocked, and my hand was trembling while calling 911. I also called my brother who is a GI specialist. The ambulance came and took him to PIH Health. The doctor and nurses were ready, and he was immediately taken in. He was diagnosed as having a bad case of food poisoning and transferred to the floor. The nurses and doctor were friendly with him, and he did not face any issue for the three days that he was in the hospital. The staff was caring, friendly, very professional and very helpful. Thanks to the excellent care, my father was back to his former self within a week

The doctors at PIH are very careless. My 6 yr old niece was complaining about a bad neck ache and a splitting headache. She was literally in tears. She was taken to PIH where the doctor diagnosed her with neck spasm and discharged her. When the pain failed to subside, she was taken to a nearby ER where they diagnosed her as having a puss-filled lump on the neck due to infection from either flu or cold. She was given antibiotics, and thankfully, her infection got cleared off pretty soon, and she stopped complaining of pain.

I shudder to think what if we had neglected her pain on the advice of the PIH doctors.

Took my 85-year-old dad. Received excellent service here. He, unfortunately, ended up getting admitted due to a lung infection. The care that he got while here was awesome. His day nurse was the best. She took real good care of him. I could not have asked for better care. Thanks a lot, PIH

PIH in Downey is an excellent hospital. My family has been a regular here and never have been treated rudely or not taken care of properly. The staff is great…they do not hesitate to help you. The doctors are also top notch and do not make you feel rushed. I would continue seeking care at this wonderful hospital.
