Giving a review strictly as a visitor. Visited a friend who was admitted here. The staff treated him well, could tell from his beaming smile. Staff is caring and very friendly. Talking with my friend helped me to understand how the staff went above and beyond to ensure his stay was very comfortable. The quality of care was also excellent. They even treated me very well. Parking at OMHS is easy. They also offer free valet. The waiting rooms are also comfortable.

Couple of months back, I went to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital ER for a minor medical emergency. I was taken in and told to wait for some time. That “some time” stretched to nearly four hours. I even had a nice nap during this time. Once refreshed, I pushed the button for seeing a medical professional to have an idea when would my turn come. A nurse came and said it would take some more time. That again stretched to two hours. It was becoming ridiculous. I finally got up and informed a nurse that I was leaving and would seek care elsewhere. These guys just took my vitals. I leave AMA and two days later get a bill for roughly $500 for their “services.”

This is not a one-off case. The same shitty service was offered when my sister went there for the delivery. Her’s was not a normal delivery, and there were some complications. She was admitted to this shithole and had absolutely no privacy. The nurses would come to the room anytime and start asking questions which are completely unrelated to the delivery. Through their talk, they wanted to imply that my brother-in-law was not a good man and due to some of his old habits my sister had this complication. They even went on to say that he stole prescriptions drugs. We were aghast. How can they talk like this? This continued till the time my sister delivered a baby girl.

The torture did not even end there. When the doctor gave the go-ahead for discharge, the nurses wanted to keep the baby girl for some more tests. Having had enough of this shit, my brother-in-law gave them a piece of his mind and threatened to file a complaint with the hospital authorities as well as the police for illegal confinement. This knocked some sense into them, and they hurriedly discharged my sister and the princess.

It is a pretty long review, but it is something which I wanted people to know about.

We have been to this hospital twice or thrice for different reasons, and we were always treated well. The place is spotless, and the medical staff is very courteous and very helpful. The food served is also delicious. Nothing gourmet, but still very good.
