I went to the ER barefoot after a wok fell on my leg as well as having another misfortune in the kitchen, which resulted in me scraping the sole of my feet and having a splash of hot oil on the leg. This is enough to get a priority in an ER. However, at NMMC, this does not count. I explained to the nurse what happened, and she was like, “I understand ma’am, but we treat each person equally, and you would have to wait your turn. It won’t take long.” I was like, okay seems fair enough, and there was a good flow of patients. But my optimism gave way to desperation after three hours due to increasing pain and inability to put my foot down properly. My son went and asked the status, and he got the same crap that I got…

What baffles me is that this is an emergency center and my injury certainly gets considered as an emergency, but still I was not seen quickly. The PROFESSIONALISM and URGENCY were sorely missing in this hospital. To makes matter worse, Tupelo does not have any other emergency center. You just cannot go anywhere else. I was finally seen after six hours and what do they do…refer me to another hospital where they can give appropriate care.

Complete BS. If this could have been done six hours earlier, I would have been in much better shape. Mind you NMMC, if the doctor says the oil has caused extensive damage and I need major repair than I am gonna drag all of you over hot coals.

Nurses at North Mississippi Medical Center ER and ICU sucks!!!!

We were visiting my parents when my father suddenly suffered a stroke. We rush him to the ER. They take him in but then surprisingly makes him wait in the ER for nearly an hour because the doctor was not there. I told them he had a stroke and not indigestion….there was no response from their end. Thankfully, the doctor arrived after an hour and immediately got him admitted to the ICU. The ICU was being readied for his admission, so they made him wait again…one could see that he was deteriorating by the minute, but the nurses were least bothered. After about 30 minutes, he finally got a bed, and the treatment was started. But the delay had resulted in him in losing mobility on his right side of his body. The doctors said the delayed treatment was the reason….Thanks to the stupid and useless nurses, my dad had to stay in the ICU for nearly a week and then undergo PT at another place for a month.

It is high time that the nurses at NMMC are shown the rule book, and if they do not care for their patients, then it is best that they leave the hospital.

I had to go to the NMMC ER a few days back. I had a great experience. I was triaged in quickly, and there was no delay in admission. The doctor and the nurse who took care of me were great. Thanks to the wonderful care of the team, I was discharged the next day. Big cheers to the ER staff.

The CNA and the nurse on the floor (the second floor to be precise) were absolutely amazing! The care which my wife got was terrific. We could not have asked for more!! Thank you, everyone, for everything.

NMMC has got an attentive staff. They took good care of my autistic child. They had the patience to answer all our questions. The nurses were very caring and kept my son occupied while they were evaluating him. The staff also took good care of my daughter, who had accompanied us. A big THANK YOU to everyone for taking good care of my child. Thanks to them, what started as a scary day turned into a memorable one.
