Visited this ER after the Urgent Care we first went was not able to stop the bleeding from a cut that my daughter had on her left thigh. The Urgent Care called ahead and informed the North Hawaii Community Hospital about the situation. We reached the hospital with my daughter barely conscious. The staff attended to her immediately. The front desk was very helpful and allowed her to be taken to the ER first and get the treatment started before taking the details. We were taken in and brought back to the room within a matter of minutes. The ED doctor was beside us in a matter of seconds. She came, got the wound cleaned, and stitched it up. She also ordered a unit of blood as she felt my daughter had lost a lot of blood. I sincerely hope that we never see the face of any hospital again, but if we do need to visit anyone, then this would be the one for us. Mahalo!!!

ED staff at this community hospital are rock stars. They are attentive, very friendly, and most importantly, excellent clinicians. The check in is very easy, and so is the checkout. While being discharged, they make it a point that you understand everything has been explained to you. People residing in this neighborhood should be very happy to have such a wonderful institute in their community.

North Hawaii Community Hospital urgently needs to change the hospital operator. She just does not know how to treat customers. She hung up on me, not once but twice. She did not even wait to listen to my problem. I work in the customer service field, so have a good idea on how to treat customers. If this lady continues to handle the front desk, then sadly, this hospital won’t be running for long. Sad for the community.

I ended up visiting this hospital yesterday morning with my dad after he developed sudden chest pain. The team was extremely conscientious and my dad received outstanding care. We had to wait for some time, but it was a pretty reasonable wait. The staff appreciated our patience and was thankful. The doctor, despite the heavy rush in the ER, had the time to listen to my dad’s problems and then made the diagnosis. She asked for a blood test and did not make us wait long for seeing the results. She saw the results and took appropriate treatment decision. The RN was also very helpful. Really appreciate the respect that the staff gave to my dad. Mahalo!

We were visiting Hawaii and had an unfortunate medical emergency. The hotel staff was very nice and got us here. However, we are very disappointed with the service we got here. My wife had suddenly taken ill and was doubling up in extreme pain. We were made to sit in the waiting room for nearly three hours despite a few nurses seeing us while walking by. What made me really angry was that while Jenny was doubling up in pain and waiting to be admitted, another fellow just walked in and was seen immediately. I had to create a big ruckus to draw attention towards us. Even after blasting the nurses about poor service, my poor wife had to wait for one more hour before being seen by the doctor. Her ailment – ruptured appendix with subsequent infection. These folks are fortunate that nothing happened to Jenny or else I would have ensured that this hospital was shut down.
