Hospital for Special Surgery is an incredibly wonderful hospital. The staff is wonderful and very cheerful. Most importantly, they are all very professional. I went to a Hospital For Special Surgery for right shoulder surgery. Though I do not remember the names of all the nurses and aides who helped me during the surgery, I do recall names of nurses like Michelle, Cyril, Barbara, Maria, PAs’ Danielle and Keira, and Shannon Donegan. Special thanks to Dr. Eileen and Dr. Coleman. Every single member made sure that I was comfortable and was treated with the utmost professionalism. I am very grateful to the entire team. Postop care was also wonderful. I would recommend this hospital for any surgery.

I had a fantastic experience at Hospital for Special Surgery. I had been admitted for left hip surgery. Within a week of the surgery, I was up from the bed and walking with an aid. Three weeks into the surgery, I was able to take small but confident steps without any support. After my discharge from the hospital, I was attended by visiting nursing team, and I believe it is their sincere efforts which resulted in such a quick recovery.

I look forward to going for a walk in the park without any worries and aids.

I went to HSS for a minor surgical repair. I am out of words to describe the wonderful experience I had while at HSS. The hospital has some of the most incredibly talented team. Besides talent, they are also sincere towards their work, helpful and very compassionate. It is very rare that we get all these qualities in doctors and other healthcare specialists under one roof. I sincerely hope that HSS does all it can to retain this wonderful team. I would recommend visiting this hospital for all your surgical needs.

My mother was admitted to this hospital for total hip surgery, and every person we encountered was welcoming and went out of their way to ensure that she was comfortable. My review is basically for the cafeteria. This is a place where everything closes around 8:00 pm, and if you feel hungry after that, then you would have to go to bed hungry. The hospital could at least arrange for something. Except for this small piece of irritant, the hospital is topnotch.

I recently underwent right-hand elbow surgery after a crush injury. The entire treatment went according to a plan, and I recovered very quickly. I am very thankful to Dr. Osei who did an incredible job with the injury, and now, four months into the surgery, my elbow is 100% back to normal. Thank you!!!

I had a surgical procedure done by Dr. David Dines, and I felt it did nothing to improve me. I told this to his team and said that I would seek a second opinion. As part of that, I went ahead and called his office for the medical records. The person handling this was very rude and bluntly told me that it would take nearly three weeks to dispatch the records. This despite telling them that I have an appointment coming up in two weeks. She even went on to say that this was the regular process and she cannot do anything about it. Thanks to these idiots, I was not able to go for a second opinion. Luckily, the doctor was a good-natured soul and agreed to shift my appointment to a later date when I get my records.

Thank Dr. Dines and his worthless staff for nothing.

HSS is a world-class institution, and its staff is also world-class. I am talking about the nurses, aides, and doctors who assist in pre-surgery preparations and during surgery. I cannot say the same for the post-surgery team. I had a total hip replacement at HSS back in 2018. It was conducted by an amazing surgeon and well-coordinated and well-oiled surgical staff. They were prompt, efficient, caring and wonderful.

Once the surgery was completed, I was shifted to the floor where my care was taken over by post-surgery team, and this was a big letdown. I felt the team consisted of a young and inexperienced team and the team members snapped at the drop of a hat. Thanks to them, I had a horrid time at HSS. The entire team was not bad, but a couple of rotten eggs pulled down the whole team. They were not at par with the rest of the team. However, the meals, I must say, were excellent.

If the HSS management can get its post-op care team on track, then this hospital would become truly remarkable. I would not hesitate to come to HSS for any surgeries and would recommend it to others also.

My three-year-old daughter snapped her elbow while playing and was crying hoarse due to the terrible pain she was in. We were suggested by our local hospital to go to HSS for best care and boy were they correct. When we reached the hospital, the team swung into action and before we knew all the formalities were taken care off and Michelle was wheeled into the OR where a team of wonderful doctors did a great job on repairing her elbow. To my pleasant surprise, she was cheerful and playing with the staff the second day after the surgery. We cannot express our gratitude to the team at HSS. Thank you, HSS for taking good care of our daughter!!!!!

I won’t recommend HSS for any surgery. The doctor was okay. Where they failed was when they insisted on seeing HSS’s in-house orthopedist. This was ridiculous because the first appointment was three months away. They were very insistent that I meet with the orthopedist even when I told I have my orthopedist and the appointment can be arranged in only two business days. They were not ready to dispatch my medical records, and they even forced me to come from all the way from FL to NY to pick the records in person. This was outrageous. It was all sorted out after a nudge from patient support folks. The icing on the cake was a bill which was not covered by my plan. I think I have learned my lesson. Never visit HSS!!!!

My experience at HSS was good. The entire surgical team was wonderful and took good care of me. But the postop team was not up to the mark. They were inexperienced and had no idea how to handle these type of cases. They need to pull up their socks.

My friend met with an unfortunate accident and busted his knees and hands. He was shifted to HSS for better care, and I have to say that they did a wonderful job. HSS’s efficient and wonderful team ensured that my friend was up and running in eight months. I would recommend HSS to everyone.
