Beverages and cookies in the lobby, highly efficient intake services, super easy parking – this is Fresno Surgical Hospital for you. This is a wonderful place to get your surgeries done. Fresno Surgical has incredible staff, which is very welcoming, exceptionally kind nurses, and very friendly and empathetic surgery staff. The surgeon who operated upon me was out of the world. For the love of the Holy Father, I cannot recollect his name, but he was exceptional. He was very calm and composed, which helps in easing a lot of worries that one might have in mind about the surgery! These folks even gave me a hand-signed 'get well soon' card! I sincerely pray that I do not have to undergo any more surgery in my life, but if I do need to, then this is the place for it!

One of the best surgical hospitals in the country. I had to visit this place thrice for surgeries (different areas), and each time, I have been treated exceptionally well. Every single member of this hospital starting from the security guard to front desk lady to the nurses to the surgeons…every single one of them was kind and considerate. I previously used to go to Saint Agnes as my insurance is accepted there, but this time my doctor suggested me this place since the hospital worked with him. I am glad I did. I am between insurances, so looking out for insurance that has this hospital in its network list.

I do not know how to review this hospital. On the one hand, the staff and the surgeon were exceptional and did a great job on what was a considerably complex surgery. On the other hand, the tension, anxiety, and incompetence which I had to endure from the scheduling department (I hope they call it that) was inexplicable.

This is my story. Last Thursday, I was supposed to undergo surgery. So I called them two days before and asked if there were any special precautions that I needed to take. I was told to avoid vitamins and other supplements and avoid oily foods, etc. On Tuesday night, I ended up taking potassium and called the nurse concerned to check whether it was ok. She said it was fine. We had regular interaction until the evening before the surgery. My son called up the hospital and asked if the timing is fixed and when should we report. The lady who answered said that intimation had been sent to the phone, but there seemed to be some problem with my phone, hence I might have not received them.

Nevertheless, they asked us to arrive at 5:30 AM for the surgery. We reach at the specific time the next day, and the front desk is looking at us as if we were aliens. She said we need not have come so early. The surgery was scheduled for 10:00 AM. We were shocked and pissed off in equal measure. My son argued that we should have been intimated about it. The front desk lady was very apologetic and said it was mentioned that the patient had been informed...so she did not call back and confirm.

Since we did not want to go back and come again, we decided to stay put and while away time. The surgery finally started at 10:00, and it went off successfully. While I had a successful operation, the incompetence of the scheduling staff left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I am not sure if I would like to return here.
