We have been residents of Opelika for more than a decade now and have only East Alabama Medical Center to call as a hospital. This is a very good hospital, and the staff treats their patients with care. I have gone there off and on, and each time I was taken good care of.

My grandfather was wheeled into the EAMC ER, as an Irma evacuee, and then eventually to hospice. As an outsider, I was not sure about the care that we were going to receive. But to our pleasant surprise, EAMC treated us well. The staff was kind, compassionate and very helpful. They did not mind the numerous questions we threw at them. A special thanks to the hospice staff. They were amazing. My family and I are grateful and stand indebted to them for their care and affection. You are angels and would always be in our prayers.

I had come to radiology today for a day procedure. I was scheduled to meet the doctor at 9:00 am. I reached the hospital at 08:30. They asked me to wait until the doctor arrived, so I went and sat down in the waiting area. After waiting for nearly an hour, I went and inquired how much time more, and the girl at the front desk says, "Oh, she is seeing your paperwork and would call you soon.” I waited for nearly five hours and then left AMA. It is RIDICULOUS! Horrible!

I had been to EAMC for a surgery on my right leg and was advised to use a wheelchair for moving around and to call the nurse if I wanted to get out of the bed. The night of the surgery, it was medication time, and I did not see the nurse and called out to them. Nobody came. I kept waiting for nearly 50 minutes and still did not see the nurse. I somehow managed to get myself in the chair and went to see what was taking them sooooo long. Well, they were busy with – WATCHING TV!!! Angry and really pissed off, I went ahead and took the medications myself. The same thing repeated until I was in the hospital. You see, I did not want them to miss their TV Schedule. I was the most relieved person when I was discharged from EAMC. I would not mind driving another 100 miles to get to a hospital that would take care of its patients.

East Alabama Medical Center, get a handle on things and fix yourself. Patients are treated as a commodity in your hospital. You forget a simple fact that this is a healthcare establishment! Treat someone and please stop asking for posting positive reviews. This is not a takeaway or a restaurant- it's a hospital, in fact, the only one in the Auburn-Opelika area. I'm saddened to see the steep fall in EAMC standards over the past few years.

I had gone to EAMC for a day procedure. I was treated with respect by everyone. All the personnel involved in my care made sure I was very comfortable. They helped me with scheduling appointments and addressing insurance issues. I could not have asked for better care!

OMG!

EAMC has transformed itself beyond my imagination! I went to the ER at about 02:00 pm, and there was a long queue in the waiting area. When my turn came, I was given proper attention and care. The caregivers were caring and polite. I must say that I was well served. I'm grateful to everyone at EAMC who were involved in my care.

My wife had recently undergone surgery at EAMC for a gynecological problem. We can't thank them enough. Right from the pre-op until we were discharged, she was treated with kindness and concern. The OB/GYN did a wonderful job, as did others involved in her care. We are more than happy with our experience at EAMC. Our stay was much better than other facilities that we have been to. Highly recommend EAMC.

I agree that some rotten apples in EAMC are destroying the reputation of the institution, but that does not mean that this is the only hospital with flaws. It has also got a lot to do with how you want to get treated, are you ready to adjust yourself, etc. I have been to EAMC over the years and not even once did I feel that my care was being affected. I always felt happy getting treated at EAMC. I would recommend this hospital to everyone.

I am from North Carolina, and was visiting a friend in the Opelika area, when my girl met with an accident. We were rushed to the East Alabama Medical Center for immediate care. Once we arrived in the ED, we were made comfortable while the front desk checked out our insurance. Once all the paperwork was done, the doctors got down to work and treated my munchkin pretty well. We were asked to undergo a couple of tests and the team was very cooperative, friendly, and accommodating. We were kept in the loop at every stage, and we left the hospital satisfied with the knowledge that my girl was taken good care off. Thank you, EAMC!!!

I had developed a gnawing pain in my left side that had started to radiate to my left arm. I went to EAMC ER to check it out. I was admitted and examined by the on-call doctor. Though he treated me for pain, he had a lurking suspicion and took me for an EKG which revealed that I had suffered a heart attack. He immediately changed the treatment course and I underwent emergency surgery for stent placement. The prompt action of the attending physician saved my life.

EAMC is a great hospital. The staff is wonderful and highly knowledgeable. They treat you with respect and make sure that your stay in the hospital is made as comfortable as possible. I am happy that there is such a healthcare establishment in my area. Thank you, EAMC for everything that you have done.
