How much would a hospital charge for an insect bite---you might say less than $500. It would be right if we are talking about any other hospital. But when it comes to Payson Medical Center, you cannot be sure…these guys charged me $1400 for an insect bite which was not life-threatening. I might have spent 30 minutes at this place. The break-up - $300 for the doctor, $1100 for the hospital. This was out of insurance. There was no use of any special equipment, no special treatment, no exotic medications, and even no admittance.

I do understand that it might cost a lot if we have to use specialized equipment, complex procedures, or if any specialized skill set is required, which definitely wasn’t the case in this instance.

Sincere advice: If you end up needing medical treatment for some simple and non-life threatening problem, then drive a little further and visit a provider that is covered by your insurance. If you come here, then you might end up with having a massive hole in your pocket.

WOW! The care that I got here was awesome!!!!

I was visiting my friends in Payson when I suddenly fell ill and was not able to keep things down. I first went to the nearest Urgent Care hoping that things might get completed in a jiffy. But they expressed helplessness and advised me to visit Payson Medical Center. I went to the ER, where the registration process was completed in a jiffy, and I was taken in within minutes. A waiting period of 30 minutes ensued after which I was taken back to the room.

The doctor was a nice lady who had excellent bedside manners. She talked with me, got all the details, asked for a few tests, and then diagnosed me with a bad case of stomach flu. A one-day stay for observation was suggested. At the end of the stay, the ER doctor came and checked with me, though she was not required to do so. It just showed that she cared for my wellness, something which is very rare in present-day doctors.

I am thrilled with the excellent treatment I received here
