Went to Oakland Hospital after being referred by PCP for an MRI scan. The entire hospital experience was great. The receptionist who signed me was a nice and caring lady, and so was the woman who conducted the scan. She explained the procedure in detail and answered all the questions. I was out of the hospital within an hour. I went to the hospital again with a relative, and the same wonderful lady greeted us, and the same amiable technician took Sam’s scan. This time, however, we were done within 45 minutes

Took my daughter there at 1:30 at night as she was having breathing difficulties and was gasping for breath. The front desk was manned by one of the rudest receptionist I have ever met. The receptionist did not even allow the nurse to check on my daughter before I filled all the paperwork. On top of it, they made us wait in the room for nearly an hour before a doctor came and saw us. The duty doctor gave a steroid shot, and my daughter felt much better. Even though the doctor was a gentleman, the front desk lady ruined the whole thing. I will think twice before even agreeing to visit this hospital. Extremely unprofessional girl.

I got a phone call from this hospital stating that the senior leadership had taken my complaint against some erring staff members and the healthcare system very seriously. They asked me to visit them, and I did visit them. They made me very comfortable and asked me to explain the whole issue to them. I was also allowed to offer suggestions to senior leadership. I was amazed when I saw their concern, and they listened to all the feedback, perceptions and observations very intently. I am happy that the senior leadership of Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital takes patient care very seriously. I hope that at least some, if not all, suggestions would be implemented and one can see more positive changes.
